Poems by Emily

Poems are like trees, some branch out all over the place and some stay neatly spaced.
There are those that are knobby and gnarled and sometimes mauled with metaphors and similes. Just like trees there are ones that are boring and old, new and bold.
Some bloom alliteration, some produce wise words and consideration.
Rhythm and rhyme weave words together like leaves help the trees look better.
There are different types of poems like sonnets, trio lets and double dactyls with lots of lines.
Just like there are oaks, cherries, and pines.
There are those that do not rhyme, but most of the time they do.
They can be about anything, pencils, teachers, grass and even you.
As a tree can still grow moss when it’s new, a poet can still floss in a mood or two.
So if you’re going to write a poem just look at a tree and put on the paper exactly what you see.
