One of the benefits of working 12 hr shifts is that I have three days a week off. This flexibility lends itself to the occasional "spur-of-the-moment" trip; in this case, a visit to the brand new Cabela's store in Reno! Let's be clear on one point: I love Cabela's. I have no regard for pretentious designer labels, the latest fashion fads, or politically-correct apparel. My boots are cowhide leather, waterproof, Gore-Tex lined, tough-as-nails, and durable enough to have lasted more than seven years; they're also re-soleable so I can keep wearing them for another seven years - and they're stamped "Cabela's Outfitter Series". It is an enormous treat to see this enthusiasm for Cabela's and all-things-camo in my children: they're outside kids for crying-out-loud, not Nintendo city-slicker kids! They dig holes, stalk wild animals (the cat), catch frogs, build forts, climb trees, play with bugs, shoot guns, ride quads, and continuously seek ways to test their strength against the forces of nature. A wide-range of camouflage clothing and outdoor equipment is a must at my house; therefore, Cabela's.
Emily and Maris loved the African Big Game exhibit - you're not gonna find this display at Louis Vitton or Bloomingdales - only at Cabela's (and, of course, the African continent).
After a busy day at Cabela's, these critters were hungry!

Can you find the cute kid in this picture? Maris was the first one up (at the crack of dawn) and decked herself out in her new camo. Quite a hit at the Black Bear Diner where we had breakfast!

Nope. I could just barely make out the cute girl in the camo - she's hidden quite nicely :) And you can't be that far out of the fashion loop - you mentioned Louis Vitton ;) Looks like everybody had fun! kristi gregg.

My parents live in Reno, so we can't get home without a stop at Cabella's. Favorite isle by far - is the Rapalla fishing lures. :)
Um, yeah, but at bloomingsdales they have a piano player. Ha, you can't find that at Cabellas...can you? :o)
Nordies has a pianist, too. And about a bazillion shoes.
The Cabela's advantage, for me, is that Mark will buy me anything if only I find it in the Cabela's catalog. That in my book beats a piano player at a store where Mark's immediate answer would be, "no"!

We love the Black Bear Diner!! My favorite is the Southern Scramble at breakfast. We try to plan our trip to Idaho so we can stop there for breakfast on the way up. Love the pictures of the girls!
